Leona McCord, Principal email

Mrs. McCord

My name is Leona McCord, and I am honored to be in my 20th year in education, my 7th year in the Dayton community, and my 3rd year serving as Principal of KMB. It’s a privilege to lead a campus filled with passionate educators, incredible students, and a supportive community.

I believe with all my heart that every child can learn—when they are given the opportunity, the right support, and clear, high expectations. Learning should never be a privilege; it should be a guarantee. As educators, we must continue growing in both our mindset and our craft. Our growth is directly tied to the success of our students, and professional learning should never stop at graduation or certification—it’s a lifelong journey.

We are not just teachers, administrators, or staff—we are champions for children. That means advocating for them, believing in them when they don’t believe in themselves, and showing up every day with a heart committed to their success. I believe in creating a school culture where children feel seen, heard, valued, and safe to take risks in learning.

On a personal note, I’ve been blessed with a wonderful family. My husband and I have been married for 29 years, and he proudly serves our community as a police sergeant. We have two amazing children. Our daughter, Breann, is married and works as a police dispatcher, and our son, Bryce, recently graduated from Mississippi State University and has joined the United States Air Force.

I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to serve, lead, and learn alongside the KMB family. I look forward to what we’ll continue to achieve together—for our kids and for each other.

My name is Erin Schiltz, and I'm beginning my 14th year in education, and my first year in Dayton ISD on our campus leadership team. My husband and I have been married 24 years and we have 3 wonderful children. My two boys are grown adults and my youngest will be a senior at Conroe High School.

I'm excited about fostering a strong community of learners that feel valued and supported. I'm also eager to work alongside our dedicated staff, in building strong relationships with our families and to collaborate with them to create the best learning experience. This year we have one mission, one school, with infinite possibilities.
